Radiation Damage

• Charge transfer degradation due to perigee passage and solar flares (high E protons), also due to remnant soft proton flares

• Bad pixel generation - growth, characterisation & removal

• Component failure ?

• Mitigation by calibration, annealing, operational changes (T, mode etc..)

• Compare measured degradation with pre-launch predictions, so that we can estimate lifetime and ensure margins for operational soft proton fluence
