Plots

The plots show the combined RGS1 and RGS2 first order fluxed spectra in the range of 7-38 Å, in units of erg/cm2/s/Å.

For a description of what RGS fluxed spectra are and how they are obtained, refer to the BiRD web page.

Above each plot the most relevant spectral lines for each type of object are marked.

For extragalactic sources, the wavelengths of the lines are corrected for redshift using the value shown in the upper left corner of the plot, that was taken from SIMBAD.

The legend of each plot contains the following information:

Tables

Table 1 [Download]

Table 1 contains information about the target taken from the SIMBAD and BiRD databases, details of the observation, the source extension and the quality of the spectrum.

The table is divided into two parts, listing separately "Top Quality" and "Good Quality" observations.

Description of the columns

OBSID ObsId of the observation.
OBJECT Name of the object given in the proposal.
SIMBAD TYPE Type of the object from the SIMBAD database, as given in BiRD.
RA DEC Coordinates of the object from the SIMBAD database.
  • N/A: Not available.
z Redshift taken from the SIMBAD database, as given in BiRD.
  • N/A: Not applicable.
  • N/V: Not available.
START TIME UT of the start of the observation
Texp RGS1[2] Exposure time of RGS 1[2] (in s).
P 12 Source spatial extension:
  • P: The spatial profiles of the source in both RGS (or in one of them, if only one available) indicate that the object is a point-like source.
  • E: The spatial profiles of the source in both RGS (or in one of them, if only one available) indicate that the object is an extended source.
  • P/E: Point-like in RGS1, extended in RGS2.
  • E/P: Point-like in RGS2, extended in RGS1.
No information on the extension of the object means that the fits to both RGS1 and RGS2 spatial profiles give values out of range or not significant.
NH Galactic column density of neutral Hydrogen in the direction of the target (in cm-2).
G 1[2] Classification of the RGS 1[2] spectrum based on the parameters of the Gaussian fitted to the spatial profile.
  • Y[N]: The spectrum complies [does not comply] with the minimum quality criteria (Gaussian parameters).
  • - : There is no information about the fit or there are no data from RGS 1[2].
A 1[2] Classification of the RGS 1[2] spectrum based on the area of the Gaussian fitted to the spatial profile.
  • Y[N]: The spectrum complies [does not comply] with the minimum quality criteria (Area).
  • - : Not available.
F 1[2] Classification of the RGS 1[2] spectrum based on the ratio between the average flux to the associated error.
  • Y[N]: The spectrum complies [does not comply] with the minimum quality criteria (flux to error ratio).
  • - : Not available.
F 12 Classification of the combined RGS1 and RGS2 spectra based on the ratio between the average flux to the associated error.
  • Y[N]: The combined spectrum complies [does not comply] with the minimum quality criteria (flux to error ratio).
  • - : Not available.

Table 2 [Download]

Table 2 contains the results of the gaussian fit to the spatial profiles computed from RGS1/RGS2 event files, and the values of the flux to error ratio calculated from the RGS1/RGS2 spectra.

The table is divided into two parts, listing separately "Top Quality" and "Good Quality" observations.
